“Architecture arouses sentiments in man. The architect’s task therefore, is to make those sentiments more precise.”
“Only a very small part of architecture belongs to art: the tomb and the monument.” Adolf Loos.
We propose a garden cemetery where people can go for peace and quiet. An enclosure surrounded by water and domesticated nature within the city, which is capable of producing intense spatial emotions for people seeking a moment of serenity and loneliness. Our intention is to create a cemetery as a “city of dead” which, as in most ancient traditions, is a faithful remembrance of the city of the living.
If we consider that the most important architectural typology of the city of Chicago is the tower; why not to build a buried tower for the dead?
